Nateete Archdeaconry gets its 6th Archdeacon

Nateete Archdeaconry in Namirembe Diocese on 7th May 2017, got its 6th Archdeacon by the names of Rtn. Ven. Godfrey B K Buwembo.

Making his maiden speech after he was installed by the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, he said that he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Thousands of people attended including the retired bishop of Central Buganda Diocese Rt. Rev. Jackson Matovu and Rt. Rev. Henry Tamale Katumba the Bishop of West Buganda with his wife Rev. Elizabeth Julia Tamale He requested the head of the Ngeye clan Omutaka Kasujja. 

Kasujja said that he was happy that the Ngeye clan had groomed Godfrey Buwembo whom they had seen growing from strengths to strength. He called upon him to be serve diligently because he is the head of Education in the Ngeye Clan.

He said that "ekika kitambulira wamu neddiini okulungamya nokukumaakuma abantu baffe."
He welcomed all people thousands of them that had attended the installation ceremony. He thanked God who called him into the Ministry and thanked the bishop for accepting him to serve as Archdeacon.
He thanked all Archdeacons and priests who have throughout his ministry journey been nurturing him.
He said there was a certain Lay Reader in Mukono Diocese Cou who always prayed for him for 18 years to become an Archdeacon. He also noted that the late Saulo Bulega used to tell him that there was something special God was preparing him for.

He said that in 1992 he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and saviour and ever since he has never regretted.

He said that he remembered the first time he led a service at Kagoma Maganjo for 15 minutes and that was the trigger that led to his Ministry.
By the time of his appointment, he has been the Parish priest of Munyonyo.

WHAT HE INTENDS TO DO:
He said that he is going to put emphasis on ministry
To call Christians to use talent
To promote Mackay's cave to be a tourist attraction.
To ensure lay readers are having income generating projects
To ensure that Christians continue loving their church.
He is going to teach Christians in the art of praying by starting a prayer school.
He pledged good working relationships between churches and parishes.
Hr had plans of catering for the orphans and widows.
He also said that they will put more emphasis on the ministry of children and Youths.
He appealed to the youths to stop engaging in sports betting but they should engage in productive work.

In an emotional rejoinder, he broke down in tears when he revealed how his father died when his mother was eight months pregnant and when he was born he was put under the custody of his maternal aunt. He said that his maternal aunt told him that he should study hard to ensure that at no point in time should he be arrested and detained for failure to pay graduated tax.

He said that every time his maternal aunt told him about that scenario, he would break down in tears and that's what drove him to study up to masters level.

Preaching during the installation ceremony, the Bishop of Namirembe Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, called upon priests posted in the various parishes never to praise themselves but to always preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all people without fear or favour. 

In Luganda, he said “Kinnennyamiza abaweereza okuva ku mulamwa gw’okuweereza Katonda ate ne badda mu kubuulira ku bannaabwe, okwewaanira ku bituuti waggulu nga bwe batali bangu nnyo era nga kino twagala tukirwanyise ekkanisa ya Uganda esobole okutambula obulungi.” 

He called upon the parishioners to stop the habit of intimidating the church ministers and never to put conditions to them if they are serve in the places where they have been posted such as asking for their academic qualifications.

Fact file of Ven. Godfrey B.K. Buwembo

He was born on June 9,1974 to the late  Israel Kalule and  Maria Nassozi Nabulya at  Nabutitti near Namulonge.

Education
He started school at  Mmende Primary School in Wakiso district, then he went to  Sam Yiga Primary Schoo where he sat for his PLE. He had his high school at Kampala Secondary School. He then went to   Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo where he obtained a diploma in Theology.
He then studied his Bachelor of Theology at  Uganda Chrisitian University  Mukono  and later on obtained Masters degree in Public Administration. 

Ministry Work

In 1992, he was posted to Kagoma Maganjo as a Lay Reader.  In 2002 he was ordained a deacon in the Anglican Church of Uganda and in 2004, he was ordained a priest by the Rt. Rev. Samuel Balagadde Ssekkadde.

He has served in  St. Luke Kazo, Kagoma C/U, Maganjo C/U, St James Bwaise, St Noah Sserwanga  Makerere West, Katwe Martyrs Church, St Mark's Church Entebbe Parish, Katuuso Buziga Parish and Munyonyo Parish where he served last before his elevation to the post of Archdeacon.  

He wed his lovely wife Joyce Gift Nantongo Buwembo on 20/09/2003. They have been able to raise four children namely;  Gloria Buwembo, Georgina Buwembo, Gabriel Nakayiza and Gideon Benjamin Muwanguzi.
