Archbishop John Sentamu preaching at Rubaga Miracle Centre |
Pastor Kayanja alaways refers to Archbishop Sentamu as the person who lent him his shoes, the ones he first wore in his lifetime, when he was going to be confirmed in the Anglican Church of Uganda as a full Christian.
Kayanja says it was
Sentamu who opened the door to his salvation when he told him about
Jesus.
“He gave me a book with
a Billy Graham and David Frost interview. I did not know Graham by then, but I
later came to love him and to dedicate my heart to Jesus.”

Legend has it that in the early stages of the Church in Uganda, one of the greatest African Missionaries Rev. Canon Apollo Kivebulaaya, who was working with evangelist Jeremiah Gyagenda, the grandfather to the Archbishop, happened to go to Maganjo Church of Uganda to preach. As he arrived at the Church, his shoes had been soaked in mud and a young boy who was son to Gyagenda (David Walakira, the father of the Archbishop Sentamu and Pastor Kayanja) requested to assist wash the mud off his (Apollo Kivebulaaya) shoes which he accepted.
