PAG Peace Taremwa addressing Rotaract Club of Kisubi members |
In his seven minute speech to the rotaractors, he advised them to use this time to make friends that are meaningful because friends made at this time in life are the real friends that will help them in future. Below is a transcription of his speech:
To the newly inducted rotractors, you have been given these certificates please keep them in safe places where people will see them. Put them in a very visible area in your home and keep it smart. We have recently had a district governor who was rotaractor and I am sure one of the items he used was his rotaractor certificate.
I should apologize on behalf of the president that I was giving them things that are similar to pins but before the end of this coming week, I should give you rotaractor pins so that when you passby people can say this is a rotaractor.
Let me talk about education, as a treasurer of the Blood Bank, we invited Hugh Masekela and it cost us 320m to bring him here to sing and go away. Out of the 320m he took about 73m with his team. What does that mean? Francis, you can start playing music in local bars, by the roadside but you can also play at such high concerts.

You people are studying It takes a short time to get out poverty to another level by going to school. Did you know that? Just by you coming to school and concentrate and eat. The moment you get of of here, you will get another group and the story will be different. When you go into private business, when you go into government, this is what we are expecting from you. You have been trained as leaders. Did you hear what Father was talking about? He is very excited about you.
If I have any one job for an accountant, I would give it to Simon Nashonji. (he stands up and people clap) I tell you what ? He invited us at the Rotaract Club of Lubaga when he was president. The following day, he gave us accountability. Is there anything else you need from an accountant? That’s exactly what we are talking about. As people were busy eating and drinking, for them they were very busy reconciling. We have many clubs which have failed to qualify for global grants because they do not have proper accountabilities. The Rotaract Club of Lubaga had their financial report the following day.
This year we are talking about Mission Green, we are going to plant trees in Uganda . when I was president in 2011/2012, the person I requested to look for all schools in this area where we could plant trees was your president Allan Ntambi. I told Allan Ntambi, I don’t want to know which schools have said yes, which schools have said no. What I want is the list of schools where we are going to plant trees. Our RI President this coming year has an interest in environment. If I have something to be done, I will give it to Allan. Allan Ntambi went to all these schools around and we planted trees close to 2700 in one day. If you visit these schools and see their walkways with trees along those walkways , it is the strengths of this Allan Ntambi.

I was very excited to come and officiate at a club which I saw as it was starting up. When you bring this Idea of joint fellowship of Thursday clubs, what are you talking about? Do you know that some of these people here fail to organize a party of only one group. You have a baptism at home and you even fail to organize. What about organizing a fellowship of all Thursday clubs. I want to thank the rotaract Club of Kisubi for doing such a wonderful job for organizing this fellowship. I’m very sure that next time you will have bigger numbers. This is the time for you to make real friends that will help you in future. PPPP.
I congratulate all Rotaract clubs that have turned up today. Next time let's have big numbers. Let's use the Entebbe corridor solidarity so that we can create an impact in society.
Talking at the same function Rev. Fr. Dr. Everest on behalf of the Patron of the Rotaract club of Kisubi University Brother Dr. Bernard, he was happy to note that rotaractors at the university had proved to possess good leadership skills.
He said that he was happy that rotractors were valuing leadership skills and that he was confident that they were going to become responsible citizens once they leave University to go into the job market.
